Avalanche Extend Forward Logan O’Connor to Three-Year Deal

Joe Sakic has locked up an underrated depth piece, handing Logan O’Connor a 3-year extension worth $3.15 million.

O’Connor, 25, experienced a breakthrough with the Avalanche last season, having 5 points in 22 games in a bottom-six role, while having 0 points in 2 playoff games. While his point production isn’t all that exciting, O’Connor is a player that any coach would love. He is a very hard worker, and is tremendous in the defensive zone. O’Connor ranked 22nd among all skaters in xGA/60 last season, and ranked 9th among all forwards. And get this: he was ranked 1st among all skaters in xDEF/60 last season. He was also 7th in both xWAR/60 and xGAR/60 among all skaters last season, along with being in 13th for both WAR and GAR. There are plenty of other advanced stats that he excels in as well. He is a fairly solid physical player as well, having 7.23 hits/60.

O’Connor will definitely be back in that same role he played last season for the Avs. His $1.05 million annual salary will begin in the 2022-23 season.
