Evander Kane Trade is Being Worked on, Agent Contacted the Canucks

Evander Kane was placed on waivers earlier today and is set to report to the San Jose Barracuda of the American Hockey League, however according to Rick Dhaliwal of The Athletic a trade is being worked on.

Dhaliwal says that the Sharks are willing to retain half of Kane’s salary in a trade, which would bring his total cap hit to $3.5 million annually until 2025, making his contract much more appealing to teams.

Kane recently hired a new agent, Dan Milstein of Gold Star Hockey, and he is reaching out to teams, including the Vancouver Canucks, on a potential trade.

Kane is coming off of a 21-game suspension for violating the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol by submitting a false vaccination card. It’s believed that the Sharks no longer want him as part of the franchise.

Last season he led the Sharks in goals and points, a stat line of 22-27–49 through 56 games played. Over the course of his career he has 264 goals, 506 points through 769 games played.
